General class activities
Uno- This game is played in English, and each time a card is
placed, a student has to make a sentence using a vocab word of the week, this
promotes students talking time and to practice sentence building with friends in a
more fun environment.
Students are split into teams and points are awarded for
answering questions correctly, making sentences or spelling correctly.
RWN writing, pages are worked through in class together, but
the answers aren’t written down on the whiteboard, students then have to write
the page correctly, as a game for certain pages, this is to help with memory
and to focus on what is being discussed in class.
The first one to finish writing, gives me to check, if 100%
that person will get a point.
At the end of class, the winning team has a reward.
Scrabble is played from time to time in groups of four, as a
fun activity, but to also help think of longer words, remember words they have
learnt and to practice spelling.
We have a reading activity, students read in pairs, practice
the reading, then paper, scissors, stone to get a point. After the reading time is over, I stand the
pair up and ask a concept or follow up question based on the story. The first
one to answer gets a point. This creates reading practice as well as focus on what they are reading as there are
questions at the end of it.
Note: As the weeks go by, there will be new types of games
introduced to help change the flow of the class as well as learn new games
which can have real-world applications later on.
