Week 14                    Fire Fighter!

1. rubber	n.	A material that is like plastic, but it can be stretched
2. cushions	n.	A soft pad that is usually used on sofas
3. fireproof	n.	Something that cannot be caught on fire
4. pants	n.	The clothes you wear going from your waist to your feet
5. walkie-talkie	n.	A machine where is uses radio waves to talk to the same kind of machine
6. siren	n.	Like a horn that repeats a very loud noise to warn people, like on an ambulance
7. engine	n.	The part of a machine that makes it move, like in a car
8. empty	adj.	When nothing is inside
9. spread	v.	To move something over a surface
10. hydrant	n.	A structure on the street where you can attach hoses to get water
11. flames	n.	The red, yellow and orange or blue part of fire
12. smoke	n.	The black gas made from burning something
13. staircase	n.	The set of stairs you walk up or down
14. outriggers	n.	The kind of leg to help hold long ladders, usually on fire trucks
15. crackle	v.	make a rapid succession of short sharp noises
16. beam	n.	A long piece of wood or steel that holds up a house or building
17. jammed	v.	When something is stuck and cannot move
18. saw	n.	A blade with waves in it used to cut materials like wood or metal
19. switch	v.	To change to something else
20. glow	v.	To give off a low continuous light
21. inspection	n.	To have something checked very carefully and in great detail
22. council	n.	A group of people who are chosen by the people to make decisions on public matters
23. community	n.	A group of people that live in the same area
24. alarm	n.	A thing that makes a loud noise to wake you or make you alert of something
